The film “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy” is based on the life story of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, a great revolutionary of the Indian freedom struggle. The story is set in the backdrop of the mid-19th century in the year 1857, when the British East India Company had established its iron rule over the whole of India. Narasimha Reddy, who was born in a prominent family of Uyyalawada region of Hyderabad, was an epitome of courage and valour since childhood. He raised his voice against the atrocities being committed on the people of his village and surrounding areas and led the struggle against the British rule.
Narasimha Reddy united various small kings and chiefs and built a strong resistance movement. His army defeated many British armies through strategy and courage. The film also depicts aspects of his personal life, including events related to his childhood marriage, his relationship with his wife Siddhamma and lover Lakshmi. Lakshmi’s courage and support strengthened his struggle.
British Governor Cochrane tried everything possible to suppress Narasimha Reddy, but his bravery and leadership caused great damage to the British. The story of the film “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy” is set about ten years before India’s first war of independence. The story revolves around Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy (Chiranjeevi), a Maharaja of the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. Lakshmi (Tamannaah) is a temple dancer and Narasimha’s lover. When Narasimha and Lakshmi get married, Narasimha finds out that he is already married to Siddhamma (Nayanthara). Lakshmi understands their situation and joins them in fighting the British rulers. Narasimha lives a happy life with his mother (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy) and wife and is respected by his people.
Meanwhile, the British East India Company comes to India for trade, but soon they start looting and oppressing the countrymen, as well as sending India’s natural wealth to Britain. When Narasimha Reddy sees these atrocities, he becomes angry. He leaves his throne, wife and mother and joins other regional rulers like Veera Reddy (Jagapati Babu), Avuku Raju (Sudeep), Raja Pandi (Vijay Sethupathi) and his mentor Gosai Venkanna (Amitabh Bachchan) to start a rebellion against the British East India Company.
In my personal opinion, this movie is very good, but till the time I watched it, this movie did not reach the grand suspense and exposure like ‘Baahubali’. Still, I would give this movie 4.5 out of 5. About 8 people found this review helpful.

The visuals of the film are very spectacular, which has made the story even better. The recording done by Julius Packiam is excellent, which brings the music and visuals of ‘Sye Raa’ to life. According to him, this movie and our megastar Chiranjeevi’s performance is amazing. The megastar has an amazing screen presence which is a treat for fans. Tamannaah has played the best role of her career in this film while Nayanthara is as professional as ever. Jagapathi Babu, Sudeep and Vijay Sethupathi have also added life to the megastar’s performance.
Anushka Shetty has also done a good job in her role and her presence was lovely.
Finally, Mohammed Afzal said that the biggest credit for the film’s success goes to Rathnavelu who has taken the visuals of the film to the next level. He stressed that the visuals of the film are extremely spectacular and have made it a powerful and memorable cinematic experience.
