Sankranthiki Vasthunam Story

The story of the film Sankranthiki Vasthunam revolves around Sathya Akkela (Srinivas Avasarala), a renowned tech entrepreneur, who returns from the US to Telangana, India on a business tour. But as soon as he reaches here, he is kidnapped by a mysterious gang. The responsibility of solving this high-profile case is given to police officer Meenakshi (Meenakshi Chaudhary) by Chief Minister Keshav (Naresh).

Meenakshi seeks the help of her ex-boyfriend and retired police officer Yadavagiri Damodar Raju (Venkatesh) for this mission. Now Raju is leading a peaceful family life with his wife Bhagyalakshmi (Aishwarya Rajesh) and children in Rajahmundry. Meenakshi comes to Rajahmundry to re-activate him for this case.

Raju’s life is at a crossroads – on one hand is his peaceful family and on the other, the call of duty. He finally joins the mission, and this is where the film takes its humorous, thrilling and emotional ups and downs.

The real culprits who kidnapped Sathya are exposed, and it is revealed that political intrigue and personal vendetta lie behind the kidnapping. The film balances familial emotions, sparks of old love, and police-crime thriller.

The film ends on a happy and emotional note, where every character gets justice and the audience gets a satisfying experience.

Movie Review

Sankranthi’s Vasthnam is another great family entertainer directed by Anil Ravipudi, starring Venkatesh Daggubati, Aishwarya Rajesh and Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead roles. The story of this film is not just entertaining but also has a social message, which is dedicated to teachers who not only teach the curriculum but also inculcate life values in children. Sometimes such teachers, when they try to correct the indiscipline of children of influential people, have to face punishment. The film gives the message that the dignity of such teachers should be restored.

The story begins with the CEO of a reputed international software company, who comes to Telangana from abroad. He is eyed by many state and central governments for investment projects. But as soon as he reaches India, he is kidnapped by a criminal gang for ransom. IPS officer Meenakshi (Meenakshi Chaudhary) is appointed to investigate the case, who seeks the help of her ex-lover and suspended police officer (Venkatesh) in this dangerous mission. The former officer is now living a quiet family life with his wife (Aishwarya Rajesh) and children.

Circumstances turn out to be such that Venkatesh, his wife, Meenakshi and a few other family members join the rescue mission. Venkatesh, as always, plays the character of being torn between two women with ease, and also adds a touch of humour. His timing, dialogue delivery and comic sense manage to tickle the audience.

One of the major highlights of the film is the song “Godavari Gattu”, sung by Ramana Gogula and Madhu Priya. The lyrics are written by Bhaskar Bhatla and the music is composed by Beams Cesirolio. The song is not only impressive musically, but also marks the comeback of Ramana Gogula. The song features a wonderful performance by the duo of Venkatesh and Aishwarya Rajesh in Bhanu Master’s choreography.

Director Anil Ravipudi brings out his divine thoughts at the end of the film, and Venkatesh’s dialogue is especially noteworthy—”School or college reunion should not only be a platform to meet but also to honour deserving teachers.”

The supporting cast like Naresh, VTV Ganesh, Upendra Limaye, Sai Kumar and child actor Revanth have also handled the comic and emotional elements of the film well. However, some scenes and dialogues based on same-sex attraction may make family audiences a little uncomfortable.

Overall, Sankranthiki Vasthunam is a Sankranti special film full of humor, emotion and social message, which is worth watching with the whole family.
