Tamannaah Bhatia starrer “Odela 2” is a supernatural thriller film, which is a sequel to “Odela Railway Station” released on OTT in 2022. This time the film has been released in theaters, and it has come with a medium level of expectations among the audience. The film is directed by Ashok Teja and written by Sankalp Nandi. The story of the film takes place in a village named Odela, where the spirit of Tirupathi, a rapist and serial killer, returns after six months and once again creates terror in the village. The terrified villagers seek help from Bhairavi (Tamannaah Bhatia), a worshipper of Shiv-Shakti, to get rid of this evil. Though the film has some exciting moments, it makes an impact only in parts due to the weak screenplay and slow pace.

Odela 2 Story

The story of the film Odela 2 takes place in a mysterious village named Odela, where a dangerous criminal named Tirupathi had once become a symbol of terror. Tirupathi had raped and brutally murdered many women of the village. Tired of his crimes, the villagers kill him and lock his body outside the village in a special way, so that his wrath ends forever.

However, six months later, Tirupathi’s spirit returns in a terrifying and vengeful form. One by one, the women of the village start becoming his targets again. The villagers, gripped by fear and terror, are extremely nervous and do not know how to escape from this ill omen. Eventually, the villagers call Bhairavi (Tamannaah Bhatia), a powerful devotee of Shiva-Shakti, for help. Bhairavi comes to Odela with a specific purpose—to exorcise Tirupathi’s spirit and restore peace in the village.

The mystery in the story deepens when the question arises as to what was the real reason behind Tirupati’s death? What is Bhairavi’s connection with this village? And will she be able to confront this spirit and destroy it forever?

The film depicts the traditional struggle between good and evil, where a female force stands against the evil. Though the story has some good moments, it fails to completely engage the audience due to its lack of depth and emotional connection.

Movie Review

Odela 2 is a supernatural thriller that tries to give the audience an immersive experience with a mix of mystery, fear, and power. The film is directed by Ashok Teja, but the soul and original creativity of the film belongs to writer Sampath Nandi. He has crafted a story that blends superstition, spirit, and power, and presents actress Tamannaah Bhatia in the most different avatar in her career so far.

Tamannaah plays the role of ‘Bhairavi’ in the film – a Shiva-Shakti worshipper who fights against evil. The character is not only powerful, but also spiritually connected. The way the story is introduced in the first half of the film manages to pique the interest of the audience. The spirit of Tirupathi (Vasishta N. Simha) returning, and spreading terror in the village again, gives a strong plot.

However, the second half of the film does not live up to expectations. As the story progresses, the screenplay becomes repetitive and predictable. The pace and suspense that is expected from a thriller film is lacking in this film. The climax, which should have been a strong finale, is rather ordinary and ineffective.

Tamannaah has brought life to her character. Her performance is especially impressive in the climax scenes. Vasishta N. Simha has also played his villainous character seriously and his confrontation scenes with Tamannaah keep the audience engaged. In some scenes in the film – especially in the first half when the villain enters – the background music seems quite powerful and enhances the scene.

But despite these positive aspects, the film’s weak story, slow pace, and unimpressive screenplay do not take it above average. If the script had been tightened a little more and the screenplay had been made more thrilling, then perhaps this film could have been much more impressive.

Conclusion

Odela 2 is a mediocre supernatural thriller that fails to make an impact despite good performances from Tamannaah Bhatia and Vasishta N. Simha. The film starts off interesting, but as the story progresses, the screenplay becomes weak and predictable. Some scenes and background music are impressive, but the climax is weak. If the script had been sharpened, this film could have been better. For lovers of this genre, this is a one-time watch, but expecting too much from it may disappoint.
