Yuva Story

“Yuva” is an inspirational action-drama film that tells the story of a young wrestler Yashwant aka Yuva. Yuva, a national-level wrestler based in Bangalore, lives with his father Shankar, mother Girija and sister Swetha. One day he and his coach Veeranna Doddamani are accused of match fixing, which breaks his ties with wrestling. His relationship with his father also deteriorates.

Out of compulsion, the young man takes admission in an engineering college in Mangalore, where he gets into a fight with some students. After completing college, he looks for a job but is unable to find one because of his antics in college. So he works as a food delivery boy to support the family.

He learns that his father Shankar has left home and invested money borrowed from relatives and moneylenders in the stock market, and was cheated. Yuva finds his father in Gokarna and pays off all the debts by recovering the money swindled from the share market.

Later, coach Veeranna and Yuva are released from the ban after the real culprit is caught. Yuva starts training again and wins the national championship. Despite this, he takes up a job as a delivery boy, which makes his father proud of him.

Movie Review

The audience had high expectations from the film “Yuva”, especially because this is the debut film of Yuva Rajkumar and the directorial was Santosh Ananddranath. But this film did not live up to the expectations. There was an attempt to forcefully add many elements in the film, due to which its screenplay feels very scattered and weak.

Yuva Rajkumar has definitely performed well in the action and dance sequences, but the lack of emotions in his acting is clearly visible. His face is seen with almost the same expressions throughout the film, which fails to highlight his character. The hot temper of his character is understandable, but this does not mean that he has the same expression in every scene.

The love story of the film also seems to be of the same old pattern, which is similar to Santosh Ananddranath’s previous films – without any novelty. Sapthami Gowda’s character is also devoid of depth and his acting also does not live up to expectations. The dialogues are overly dramatic, especially the cheesy one-liners inserted to woo Rajvansh fans, which seem quite unnatural.

The director has also failed to show the reality of middle-class life in the film. Many fight sequences are unnecessarily inserted and the forced use of Mangalorean slang makes the film even more artificial. The father spending excessively on his daughter’s wedding, gifting her an Audi despite being in debt and then running away when problems arise – all these decisions are not only impractical but also morally wrong. And then talking about selling the car at the end creates a ridiculous situation.

The mother (Sudharani) and sister (Hithya Chandrashekhar) characters of the film are also ineffective, whose faces also lack emotions. The heroine getting romantic with the hero in front of her mother, then getting irritated by the mother’s question – all these scenes seem uncomfortable and irrational. And in the end their relationship does not get any conclusion.

Santosh Anandranjan, who was earlier able to connect the audience with the story and emotions, this time seems to be busy only in launching a star kid. The need to work on the script is clearly felt.

On the whole, “Yuva” is a mediocre film which wastes its potential due to lack of emotions, scattered story and weak acting. For those who like only action and dance, this film may be worth watching, but for those expecting a good cinema, it is a disappointing experience.

Conclusion

The film “Yuva” is a mediocre commercial entertainer, which despite being the debut film of Yuva Rajkumar, does not live up to the expectations of the audience. Weak story, emotionless acting and scattered screenplay affect the film. Although the action and dance sequences provide some entertainment, the film clearly lacks depth and freshness. The level of creation that is expected from director Santosh Anandran is not seen in this film. Overall, this film is limited to only star launching.
