Saaree

Ram Gopal Varma’s (RGV) film Sari once again attempts to raise a sensitive topic based on social media and the mindset of the youth. The film, released on 4 April 2025, is the story of a young woman named Aradhya Devi, who is extremely active on social media and lives life on her own terms. The twist in the tale comes when a photographer Kittu (Satya Yadav) gets so impressed with her online presence that he begins to maniacally stalk her. This obsession slowly takes a dangerous turn, and affects Aradhya’s personal life.

The film touches upon a topic that is extremely relevant in today’s digital age – how trusting social media and connecting with strangers online can be harmful. While the idea is serious and important, RGV’s presentation muddles it up. While on one hand the film tries to give a message, on the other hand it is filled with absurdity and excessive dramatism, which may make the audience uncomfortable. As good as the intention of the film is, its execution seems to be weak.

 Saaree Story

The story of the film Sari revolves around a young woman Aradhya Devi, who leads a self-reliant and active life on social media. She freely shares her thoughts and is popular as a digital influencer. This digital presence of hers impresses a photographer Kittu (Satya Yadav) so much that he becomes obsessed with her.

Kittu secretly follows Aradhya, takes her pictures and messages her constantly. This attraction slowly turns into a serious mental disorder that does not just limit Aradhya but also endangers her family. The story delves deeper into this madness and obsession where Aradhya has to struggle not just for her identity but also for her safety.

The core message of the story is extremely relevant – how dangerous it can be to blindly trust someone in the virtual world of social media. The film tries to show how a seemingly normal online conversation can turn into a horrifying experience for someone.

However, the film’s presentation and direction fail to delve deeply into this serious subject. Aradhya’s character remains one-dimensional in the story and many scenes are unnecessarily exaggerated. Despite this, the film serves as a warning that the world of social media can be as dangerous as it appears attractive.

Conclusion

Sari is a movie that tries to give a serious and relevant message but its presentation fails completely. In the name of Ram Gopal Varma’s imagination, the movie is filled with vulgarity and exaggeration, which overshadows the main purpose. Aradhya’s character is limited to just visual appeal, while only Satya Yadav’s acting leaves some impact. Technically the film is also weak. Overall, Sari is a missed opportunity which you are better off not watching.
